As cardiovascular disease prevalence continues to decrease in the United States as does cardiovascular surgical procedures, the aging of the population brings an increase in the prevalence of heart failure and atrial fibrillation. A new hybrid procedure for the treatment of atrial fibrillation shows great promise. More randomized clinical trials are needed.

This article describes a clinical case of a patient with left atrial myxoma combined with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. General practitioner considered symptoms of left ventricular insufficiency (shortness of breath, cough, palpitation, dizziness, blood spitting) as lung pathology. When paroxysms of atrial fibrillation became more frequent the patient was ...
... congenital coronary artery fistulae (CAF) in combination with cardiac arrhythmias (CA).
Material and methods.
From May 2004 to September 2012 in Bakoulev SCCVS 75 CAF were revealed, 12 of which were accompanied by cardiac arrhythmias (6 men and 6 women). Atrial fibrillation and a trial flutter were present in 10 patients. AV nodal reentry tachycardia was observed in 1 patient. Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome was diagnosed in 1 patient. The mean age of patients was 45,2 ± 16,9 years. Mean follow-up period was ...
... that are placed in HF patients, it is possible to use their opportunities for the further evaluation of the patient. Some regularly controlled parameters can show the clinical state of the patient and predict the following heart failure. For example, atrial fibrillation, decrease of cardiac rhythm variability and decrease of the level of the patient's activity (according to integrated accelerometer) can predict clinical decompensation. Also, implantable hemodynamic monitors for immediate pressure measuring ...
